“Eternity is the sea mixed with the sunwrote Rambo. Isn’t that the perfect definition of Cote d’Azur? Many French people want to change the region to take advantage of its natural beauty and climate all year round. The Covid era has also made residents of large cities in the southeast think about moving to greener places or closer to the sea.
But beware of blindness behind postcard landscapes. Medical deserts, pollution, lack of transportation, disappearance of small businesses and services, petty crimes, real estate prices… Mistakes in dealing with residents are sometimes numerous. In addition, some municipalities, colonized by Airbnb owners and distorted by tourism, are less and less adapted to a quiet everyday life. So we collected data on the quality of life of 80 towns and villages between Hyères and Menton. Our comparisons, on 27 criteria grouped into eight main themes (see detailed methodology), allow us to understand which municipalities should be favored for happy days near the big blue.
