He Peruvian Press Council (CPP) will host a webinar this Thursday at 16:00 for World Press Freedom Day (May 3).

Law against the press
The “People’s Renewal” bench on February 6 presented a project that requires a compulsory degree to work in journalism in some media, as well as “advancing” training.
Last August, the President of the Association of Journalists of Peru (ANP), Suliana Laines, condemned that Peru Libre parliamentarian Segundo Montalvo introduced two bills concerning the work of the media.
The first establishes the obligation of public and private media to disseminate for 20 minutes a year the managerial achievements of the central government, regional and municipal authorities. Secondly, punishment in the form of 4 years of imprisonment for those citizens who are convicted of slander.
