Tuesday evening springs RPP News confirmed that Sergio Tarachewho set fire to Catherine Gomez, was captured by the police of a neighboring northern country and confessed to the Colombian authorities that he was responsible for the murder of a young Peruvian woman.
The Interior Ministry has offered 50,000 soles to anyone with information on the whereabouts of the subject who sprayed gasoline last Saturday, March 18, to burn his victim alive in the Plaza dos de Mayo. Six days later, the woman died due to severe injuries.
PNP Gen. Oscar Arriola, Director of Criminal Investigation, revealed a few weeks ago that they had ordered the international arrest of the Venezuelan; however, this could not prevent his escape.
“At the moment he has an international detention alert and we are working with special teams to secure his early arrest and make him available to the authorities,” he said. RPP News.
Arriola explained that on the day of the attack, the girl planned to go to a disco with her friends, but before that she had a fight with Tarach Parra. According to eyewitnesses, the guy bought gasoline from a nearby tap, after which he sprayed the woman’s body with liquid and set it on fire with a lighter.
They ask for a life sentence
Cynthia Macare, mother Katherine Gomezsaid the family feels great peace of mind with the capture Sergio Tarache and hopes he gets the sanction he deserves: a life sentence.
“Justice will prevail over my girl. Now the fight begins cause I won’t rest until she gets a life sentence for all the damage that
they hurt us,” he said in statements to RPP Noticias. In this sense, he commented that the prosecutor’s office had already informed them that they would request the maximum sanction against the subject.
Machare thanked the authorities for their support after the difficult moment his family continues to face due to the loss of his daughter.
“The Women’s Ministry supported us with all the psychological help for my children, for their uncles, because Kathy left us in a very terrible way,” he said.
