Mayor of Pukusana, Juan Jose Cuyaassured that the landslides that hit his area, which this week was practically isolated from the capital, originate in the negligence of neighbors who many years ago improperly diverted the channel of the ravine.
“We have been working hard for three days now due to the overflow that happened in the Parque del Chilka river. This is a ravine, which, unfortunately, many years ago, its natural channel, going to the sea, had a detour to the side pukusana”, he commented on News extension.

The burgomaster pointed out that National Water Authority (ANA) has ruled on this fact on various occasions “and has already drawn some conclusions a few years ago”.
“The problem is between the local and regional authorities, which correspond to Pukusan and Chilka, who have to make decisions in order to be able to give a final decision on this issue. We, as management, see that this has been resolved, because this cannot happen again, ”he said.
The mayor said Pukusan’s driveway is currently “in satisfactory but inadequate conditions”, which is encouraging news compared to previous days when the entire area was isolated due to landslides.
Pukusana in an emergency
The executive branch announced State of emergency in the districts of Ancona, pukusana, Punta Hermosa, Punta Negra, San Bartolo and Santa Maria del Mar; as a result of damage caused by heavy rains. The measure will be valid for sixty calendar days.
According to the Supreme Decree, this measure will serve to carry out emergency measures and actions, immediate and necessary, response and rehabilitation, which are appropriate.
