Early this morning, Friday, the residents of Daniel Alcides Carrión, located a few meters from the Sarita Colonia prison, in Callaoexperienced moments of anguish before the fire that threatened to devastate the houses of the sector.
Six units of the Callao Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the scene and, after several hours of work, managed to localize the flames. However, six houses made of poor-quality material were destroyed by fire.
in dialogue with RPP newsfirefighter Carlos Gallardo He noted that the neighbors reacted in time and, fortunately, were able to take out gas cylinders, furniture and other things, which prevented further spread of the flames and aggravation of the tragedy.
“This is a fire that engulfed six houses made of rustic unreliable material, which practically destroyed the entire back of these houses. The Callao Command intervened with 6 fire engines and a water tank unit (…) Approximately 50 firefighters worked in this emergency and no one was hurt,” he said.
Short circuit
According to local residents, the incident could have been caused by an artifact called “spiral”, used against mosquitoes that would have been plugged in all night and at some point overheated and caused a short circuit.
Since the group of houses is in ruins, several families seek help from the central and regional government so that they can provide them with tents and thus have a safe place to sleep.
“Definitely, these houses cannot be lived in until they are cleaned, garbage removed and the water drained. This is a good action that residents have taken to prioritize evacuating their belongings. The gas of the soccer balls were also evacuated, thus avoiding an explosion,” Brigadier added. Gallant.
