A group of protesters mobilized this Thursday afternoon at various points in Cercado de Lima, a new day of protests against the government Dina Boluarte And Congress of the Republic.
These people moved along Alfonso Ugarte Avenue towards Piazza Bolognesi after holding a rally in Piazza Dos de Mayo. These are demonstrators who carry flags and posters with slogans against the executive branch and parliament.
After 17:30, they had already managed to head along Avenida 9 de Deciembre towards Avenida Miguel Grau. This route has been used by protesters in recent days to head towards Abankay Avenue.
Crisis in Peru
The day before, protesters had gathered in Two May Square And San Martin Plaza, but there was no mobilization, as in previous days, as it was last Tuesday, when the protesters went along the same route. During this demonstration, three people were arrested for rioting.
This new day of protests comes after a demonstration that took place Saturday afternoon and night on Abankay Avenue, where a clash between police and protesters killed one person and injured more than 50.
The victim was identified as Viktor Santisteban Jaksavilka, 55, who suffered a severe head injury at ear level, which resulted in the exposure of a brain mass. An autopsy performed on him confirms that his death was the result of a skull fracture with a blunt instrument.
Faced with such a situation, Public service decided to initiate a preliminary investigation by the prosecutor’s office into the alleged commission of the crime of murder in the context of human rights violations during social protests against those responsible for the death of Santisteban Yachavilka.
Protests and demonstrations against the executive power these days were concentrated in lima fence. The demonstrators demand the resignation of President Dina Boluarte, as well as the departure of congressmen and the appointment of a general election.
The last-day protests in the capital come after weeks of demonstrations in various regions of the country since the second week of December 2022. So far, the death toll in this social crisis in the country is 58 people. .
