President EsSalud, Arturo Orellanaconfirmed to RPP Noticias that Victor Santisteban Jaxavilka (55), who died during the clashes in the capital, arrived with an acute blunt wound behind the ear as a result of a blow behind the ear.
“(…) he was admitted to the Grau hospital in a very poor general condition with a disorder of consciousness in the form of an acute blunt wound in the retroauricular region, that is, behind the ear, as a result of a blow,” he said in the RPP.
He added that Victor Santisteban arrived at the hospital alive and was put on a ventilator to operate and save him, but to no avail.
“ECT means that it was a blow to the head, according to the anamnesis, a blunt-acute wound was recorded, which was produced by the mechanism of impact. No projectile or firearm or damage to another part of the body was recorded. This is a wound behind the ear that unfortunately ended the life of the patient,” Orellana told RPP.
He also pointed out that the information is brought to the prosecutor’s office, lawyers to continue the situation with the sick and other citizens who are in a strict regime, who are 37 years old.
He also noted that 11 patients have been discharged and that employees of the Ministry of Health are carrying out appropriate procedures for the victims.
On the other hand, he asked the public to calm down and condemned the attacks on medical personnel and facilities during national demonstrations. “We are aimed at providing assistance, they are trying to violate, a few days ago they burned down the office in Juliaca, there are two victims of ambulances,” he said.
On the other hand, the Interior Ministry confirmed EsSalud’s claim that the deceased was being treated “for a serious head injury.”
“The Murder Investigation Unit of the National Police of Peru, with the participation of the Ministry of Public Administration, is already investigating this fact in accordance with its legal authority.”
