Police and a group of protesters clashed this Friday around Guillermo Almenara Hospitallocated on Miguel Grau Avenue in Cercado de Lima. The incident made a strong impression among the patients there.
Subjects made it to this location to continue attacking police with rocks and bottles. In response, law enforcement agencies used tear gas to disperse the protesters.
The mother of the family named Angela contacted Rotary RPP Machine report on the consequences that the gas caused inside the hospital.
“I ask for a peaceful protest, please. Here the smoke enters the department of pediatric oncology. Remember that these are children battling cancer and that they are in intensive care. How is it possible that these people do not think about the little ones. “They are just children fighting their own way. Please, I ask you to stop doing this and not walk along Grau Avenue,” he said.
The woman specified that 20 children were injured after the incident, and for this reason she repeated her request to stop the clashes.
“We don’t have open windows, we only have a door. They may not have much access to air as they are children with cancer because they experience neutropenia. We don’t have ventilation,” Angela said.
The National Police were able to remove all protesters against the government of Dina Boluarte from Abancay Avenue, but they continued to harass other parts of central Lima.
This second demonstration, called “La Toma de Lima”, led to the arrest of at least 40 people and the injury of journalists during their work covering everything that happened.
PNP statement
In the RPP Noticias, General Victor Zanabria, head of the Lima region, confirmed that so far the march called “La Toma de Lima” has identified an average of 2,500 protesters who have taken a “violent stance” causing “damage to public and private property” in addition to offensive troops.
Zanabria explained that the police are currently using “non-lethal defensive force” to contain protesters who demand, among other demands, the resignation of President Dina Boluarte and the closure of Congress.
“We apply all existing criminal procedures, guaranteeing rights and freedoms, so that later the work of the police is not questioned,” he said.
Asked if more protesters were planned to arrive from the interior of the country, the head of the Lima police station said: “There will be no call for a march tomorrow. The call was yesterday and today.
