This decision was taken as a result of an audit conducted at the request of neighbors. The preventive measure was supervised by the Department of Civil Defense and audit management who first discovered the flaws in the equipment of the Cinepolis hall.

The technical report indicated that the site was closed due to it being left open to the public without permission as it is under renovation to reopen, threatening people’s safety.

Another reason is that the premises do not comply with the safety and security regulations issued by Indeci or other competent authorities, for example regarding the operation of emergency doors, corridors, stairs, emergency lighting, electrical installations and/or lack of emergency exit (stairs and/or Door).

As a result of this first inspection, the team civil defense safety deficiencies in the mall were found, such as lack of emergency lighting, escape route signs, lack of handrails on escape routes, and lack of exit access.

In addition, it was found to lack a centralized smoke detection system, and flammable materials were found along the escape route, increasing the risk of fire.
