Experts expect snow energy to be produced at low cost. Also, its price will also be low.
In one of the snowiest cities in Japan, Aomori, scientists will test technology to generate electricity from snow next month. This was reported by Nikkei Asia.
It is noted that during the experiment, snow from the streets will be collected and dumped into a pool where the heat transfer tubes are located. Thus, the electricity will generate a temperature difference between the part of the installation and the outside air. This temperature difference is used to create a convection flow of coolant inside the turbine. The convection current turns the turbine to generate electricity. Therefore, the higher the temperature difference, the greater the power output as a result.
Tokyo Telecommunications University professor Koji Enoki, who developed the system, believes the process can produce electricity as efficiently as solar panels.
It was previously reported that Japanese scientists for the first time in the world were able to grow hair follicles in the laboratory.
