NASA delayed the launch of Artemis 1 several times due to engine problems and a hydrogen leak.
On Monday, November 21, Artemis 1’s Orion spacecraft made its closest approach to the Moon. Space reported it.
It is known that the ship, in which there is no crew, flew at a height of 130 kilometers above the lunar surface. In four days, NASA plans to launch Orion into a distant orbit around the Moon before it begins its return to Earth.
If all goes according to plan, the spacecraft will blast off into the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California on Sunday, December 11th.
Artemis 1 was the first mission of NASA’s lunar exploration program, which aimed, among other things, to establish a research base on the moon.
It was previously reported that on November 16, the world’s most powerful rocket, the Space Launch System, flew into space.
