New owner Twitter, Elon Muskdelayed the launch of the site’s paid subscription service on Tuesday after the first attempt resulted in a flood of fake accounts to scare away advertisers.

“The Blue Verified restart is being pushed back to November 29th to make sure it’s reliable,” Musk tweeted, pushing back his new extension by two weeks, originally promised on Tuesday.

Because of fake accounts

The request for more time comes after the proliferation of fake, authentic-looking accounts on the social networking site that Musk bought for $44 billion late last month, thwarting his plans.

It made Twitter last week to suspend the new payment brand system and restore the “official” gray mark on accounts held by public figures and large companies.

In an apparent attempt to prevent a reoccurrence of the issue, Musk tweeted that in the new version, “Changing your verified name will cause the checkmark to be lost until the name has been verified. Twitter comply with the Terms of Service.”

In the original renewal, US users could pay $8 for a check mark and were free to change their account names and impersonate existing ones, which was harmful.

criticism of the changes

Review Twitter This has already come under fire from Musk after he laid off half of the company’s 7,500 employees and major advertisers stopped buying ads amid the chaos.

Layoffs continued on the platform this week, with a senior engineer being fired via Musk’s tweet after Musk questioned his new policy.

US media reports that in recent days, a dozen employees have been fired after they openly questioned the decisions of Musk, who called himself a “free speech absolutist.”

Since taking office on Oct. 27, Musk has radically changed the company’s culture, ditching popular telecommuting policies, instituting irregular hours and concentrating power around a small group of trusted individuals, including his personal lawyer. (AFP)
