The nearly 100-meter giant launched the unmanned Orion spacecraft into space.

On Wednesday, November 16, from the launch pad at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA, the world’s most powerful rocket, the Space Launch System (SLS), flew into space. This is the beginning of the Artemis 1 mission. It was reported by the BBC.

The American space agency NASA managed to launch the SLS rocket into space only on the third attempt. The launch is planned for August 29 this year, then it should take place in September.

“We had a duty to send him into space. We did everything we could. If something happened, well, it wasn’t our day,” NASA’s Mike Sarafin said.

It took about three million of fuel to launch a rocket for four main engines. Engines and fuel systems were thoroughly tested, as previous launches had failed due to fuel leaks.

The first stage of the rocket flight lasted about 8 minutes. The Artemis 1 mission to the moon and back should take 26 days. That is, on December 11, the spacecraft should splash down in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California.

Remember, NASA’s Lucy spacecraft took new pictures of our planet and the moon.
