Still a little patience. Sony unveiled the specifications of a virtual reality headset for the PlayStation5 console at CES in Las Vegas on January 5. This time, it announces a release date of February 22, 2023. The group says the PlayStation VR2 headset will retail for €599.99 and will include PS VR2 Sense controllers as well as stereo headsets. Quite a high price, as it will be more expensive than the game console it is paired with. At this price, it is not certain that virtual reality will quickly become more democratic. Especially since the Playstation VR 2 will be significantly more expensive than the Metaquest 2 VR headset, which is designed for the games offered in the group’s store and is sold by Meta for 449.99 euros.
Pre-orders from November 15th
In addition, Sony announced that the PlayStation VR2 Sense Controller Charging Station, designed specifically for PS VR2 Sense controllers, will also be available on February 22, 2023 and will retail for $49.99. Sony also plans to sell a PlayStation VR2 bundle with the game in February Horizon Call of Mountain for €649.99. The bundle in question includes an activation code for the game’s PlayStation Store service, a PS VR2 headset, PS VR2 Sense controllers, and a stereo headset.
Pre-orders will begin on November 15th, although players can start signing up for them today. Orders will ship during the week of release, says Sony, which is currently facing a shortage of stock for its PS5.
