Motorola is working towards a comeback. Eighteen years after releasing the first Razr, a clamshell and keyboard phone in the 2000s, the brand is introducing the 2022 version of its device. The third after the manufacturer tried to return with the product of this series, but also ” the first step towards a line of flexible screen smartphones due next year Camille Castinel, director of marketing and communications at Motorola France, promises.
A foldable screen and a characteristic closing “clap” when closing the device. Enough to relive nostalgic memories… Or get the little ones to take turns to hang up the phone with a bang. Motorola has made a splash as a brand. With its dual internal display and an external display that is larger at 2.7 inches than its direct competitor (Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4), the Razr offers a certain ease of use. It is possible to start connecting a message or video with the phone closed and then continue the experience with the device open on the 6.7-inch internal screen. This one benefits from a 144Hz refresh rate, which meets market standards for the top of the range, with the ability to select adaptive mode to save battery.
In terms of photography, the Rzar is also positioned at the top of the market with its two sensors, one with 50 million pixels and optical stabilization, and the second with 13 megapixels dedicated to portraits and ultra-wide angle. It’s also 5G with fast charging for those in a hurry. Razr is sold for 1199 euros with 256 GB of internal memory.
With its iconic devices, Motorola wants to continue its progress. The brand is still aiming for a 5% market share in France and at the moment “its progress is in line with its forecasts”. But in a market that is shrinking more and more, gaining market share and (re)making a name for yourself is increasingly difficult. Motorola has at least one advantage over some of its competitors: it already has a name.
