The picture is symbolic, because it shows the so-called “African Triangle” in Ethiopia, where there are fossils of human ancestors aged 3.2 million years.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Lucy spacecraft has taken new pictures of our planet and the moon. On Wednesday, October 26, according to a NASA statement.
The first image, depicting only the Earth, was taken by the probe thanks to the Terminal Tracking Camera (T2CAM) on October 15 at a distance of 620 thousand kilometers.

The stark black and white image shows the marble Earth with speckled clouds against the dark background of space.
“The upper left corner of the image includes a view of Hadar, Ethiopia, where the 3.2-million-year-old fossils of the human ancestor for which the spacecraft is named,” NASA said in a statement.
NASA also released another image showing the Earth and Moon seen by the probe on October 13 at a distance of 1.4 million kilometers. In the picture, the Earth is visible on the right side, and the Moon is slightly visible from the left.

NASA’s Lucy probe is on a mission to study Jupiter’s Trojan asteroids, an ancient population of “fossils” that orbit the Sun at the same distance as the gas giant itself. During its journey, the spacecraft flies past a record number of asteroids and examines their diversity in search of clues to better understand the formation of the solar system.
The 12-year mission of NASA’s Lucy probe, which began on October 16 last year, is the first trip to Jupiter’s Trojan asteroids.
Recall that NASA first organized a group that began to investigate UFOs, bringing together experts from various scientific fields, from physics to astrobiology.
