Netflix tries to “help” users who are forced to create a new account through what they call “profile transfer”.

With this tool, users who use additional profiles and want (or are forced to) have their own account will be able to submit their recommendations, browsing history, titles saved in my list, saved games, subtitle appearance and other settings.

By the time you’re done with your boyfriend

This feature will become available to all users starting Monday after Netflix will first test it in Chile, Costa Rica and Peru. Profile transfer will be automatically enabled in all countries except South Korea and the United States.

The reasons are more than obvious. It can be used when users who share the same account with a roommate, partner, or parent are separated. But it can also be used when Netflix detect unrelated people, some of whom share accounts, and force attackers to create their own accounts.

Netflix It is estimated that more than 100 million households access the service through shared accounts.

How it works?

Users will know that the tool is available for their accounts when they receive an email message.

You will then be able to access the Transfer Profile option from the drop-down menu that appears when you hover over your profile icon on the homepage. From there, follow the instructions to set up a new account.

Keep in mind, it’s not clear if you can transfer your profile to an existing account.
