Mansana develops a plan to relocate its manufacturing facilities from Chinatrying to reduce its dependence on this country for the most important products.
According to trusted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the company is eyeing two Asian destinations for the transition: India D Thailand.
Apple plans to leave China
Based on surveys of the company’s supply chains, Kuo reports that Mansana wants to locate its manufacturing plants iPhone in Indiaand those from macbook in Thailand. Expected term is 3 to 5 years.
According to plan Manzana, the Indian company Tata Group could partner with Pegatron or Wistron to develop the assembly business in the future iPhone. Currently, more than 80% of phones manufactured in India (from Foxconn) meet domestic demand.
In the medium term (within 3-5 years), at least the US market (approximately 25-30% or more of world supply) can be supplied by assembly sites located outside the US. China to reduce the potential impact of political risks, he says.
But the ultimate plan is for the market to get out of China only supplied by factories outside of this country.
external pressure
Mansana found different reasons to move away from China in recent months.
The worst was the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced factories to close completely for weeks due to government policies.
Similarly, the ongoing geopolitical tensions between the country, Taiwan and the United States worries the company, which has also been criticized for catering to Chinese authorities to stay on its soil.
