Next, a team from Kyoto University’s Graduate School of Informatics plans to study the effects of shared laughter.

A research team from Kyoto University has developed a robot that understands human humor and can laugh. NHK report.

Researchers have added artificial intelligence to an existing humanoid robot capable of simple conversations so that it can detect laughter.

The robot sounds a human voice and laughs, naturally, according to the volume and content of the conversation.

“When I first heard the robot laugh at the right moment, it seemed to me that we really could communicate with each other,” said Associate Professor Innu Koji from the Graduate School of Informatics at Kyoto University.

He also added that he hopes robots like this can be valuable companions, especially as society ages.

Earlier it was reported that Xiaomi introduced a robot called Mijia, which can be customized by assembling its parts, like in LEGO.

The robot humanoid says the androids aren’t planning to take over the world
