Many users reported hearing a loud bang as the object entered Earth’s atmosphere.
A meteorite was spotted in the sky over Scotland on September 15, flying very low above the ground. Messages about the cosmic body appeared on Twitter by an organization that collects data on meteors, UK Meteor Network.
“Most of the messages come from Scotland and Northern Ireland. Just over 200,” the report said.
Filmed in the back garden of a Motherwell house, one video shows a large, bright object flying from left to right at a downward angle, followed by a long tail. Other reports state that the meteor was spotted in County Donegal in Ireland.
Many people reported hearing a loud bang as the object entered Earth’s atmosphere and broke the sound barrier.
According to initial reports, the meteor flew from the southwest over the island of Ireland and towards Scotland.
“I saw it slowly drifting across the night sky when I was driving down Dunblane with my dad around 10pm. It was a huge flaming green ball with an orange glowing tail. It was amazing to see. At first we thought it was it was a crashed plane. or helicopter, and then realized it was probably a meteor,” eyewitnesses said.

Some witnesses claimed that the object had crashed north of Glasgow, although there was no evidence of an impact.
“We saw it in Linlithgow West Lothian, Scotland. Heading south to north, following a green trail. Amazing. Found in West Cumbria, looking west over the Solway at about 10:00 pm, very long tail and slowly floating in the sky I have seen similar fireballs in the past 10 years, but nothing as beautiful as this one,” eyewitnesses added.

We remind you, early scientists found previously unseen types of crystals in meteorite dust. They were collected from the dust of the Chelyabinsk meteorite that fell on the territory of Russia nine years ago.
