Animals actually communicate with each other continuously over distances of up to a kilometer.
Scientists from the University of St. Andrews that monkeys can send messages to their siblings miles away. Chimpanzees have their own social networks, experts say, writes the Daily Mail.
In particular, male chimpanzees say hello when they meet, but hardly ever say goodbye, because they don’t need to do this, since the animals continue to communicate with each other over distances of kilometers.
Chimpanzees drum when they are alone or in a small circle of relatives. They use large rainforest tree roots and tapping sounds reminiscent of Morse code to send messages. Tropical tree roots allow tapping to travel miles, and chimpanzee drumming serves as a kind of message.
At the same time, different tapping rhythms are characteristic of different chimpanzees. In the forests of Uganda, there are individuals with regular rhythms, similar to rock music, and there are variable ones – more like jazz.
Remember that there are cultural differences between chimpanzee populations, including behavioral stereotypes and interactions with the outside world.
