Over time, WhatsApp realized that people use the app in different ways, and that many user habits came to be considered official features of the company. A prime example of this was Communities, a way of managing groups that we have created that we can manage in a very experiential way. Now, two new features are looking to gain a foothold in ongoing development.

Both novelties aim to satisfy different communication needs, but they are born in the process of adapting the platform for messages and calls between users. One is widely used and the other is reserved for users with additional devices.

Whatsapp and messages to yourself

The WABetaInfo website announces the development of a function to send messages to yourself. In trial versions, our own profile is defined in the list of contacts added to the service, and by selecting it, we can send all sorts of data to ourselves.

So far, the easiest way to achieve this has been to create a one-person group, a “hack” of the system that allows us to create a space reserved for us. We leave you a tutorial on how to do it.

Discovered in the beta version of WhatsApp Desktop, this new feature will allow you to send messages from all your connected devices, including iOS and Android terminals, when the long-awaited companion device feature is finally installed.

whatsapp calls from watch

The WearOS Reddit thread has screenshots of what potential received WhatsApp calls look like on the Google Watch operating system, specifically the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5.

As reported by 9to5Google, this feature will apparently be enabled when we update the beta version of WhatsApp to version 2.22.19.12, and that the call from the messaging service uses an icon so that the user does not confuse a traditional incoming call with this one.

Until now, the only way to answer WhatsApp calls from the watch was to enable the wearable as an “audio output device” and answer from the phone. Estop allows you to use your watch as a Bluetooth speaker, but does not offer any other services.

There is still no confirmed release date for these new features. The truth is that the delay between these outputs in previous versions and global availability is usually less than 4 months. However, some conditions may change drastically during the rollout of these tools, so some of the features shown in beta versions will not look the same as the final version rolled out to all profiles.
