Thanks to this model, Twitter will earn a small percentage of the money generated from user subscriptions, as it does with only fans and with other platforms that these systems have, such as Twitter or the same social network with Twitter Blue. However, the plan was not implemented due to a number of factors, which are explained in the report.

Finding ads from different companies on a social network is common, but many choose not to advertise on platforms that openly offer explicit on-demand content because it creates a bad image. According to the report, the increase in the number of subscribers compensates for the loss of advertisers.

However, the second and main reason why Twitter abandoned his plans because, in order to offer this type of material on his social network, there should be more control over what users post. The platform has been trying for some time to combat the distribution of illegal and offensive content, the most serious case of which is the presence of child pornography.

Since the social network is overflowing with this type of content, and the social network’s algorithm cannot determine whether it is within the law or actually implies a violation of the policy of its platform, Twitter cannot offer a secure subscription for both content creators and interested users.
