Mansana has patented the name of one of its next releases, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) glasses, which will presumably bear the name RealityOne.
According to the company roadmap, Mansana plans to bring this mixed reality headset to market as a high-end product in 2023. However, at the moment of development, there were problems with some details of the device.
Among them were failures in camera sensors, software and overheating, which would have delayed its official launch.
Recently the company would have taken a step forward in this process as there have been three filings in total.
Apple patents
One of them is reality, which will be intended for the end device. However, in these documents there are also options such as reality pro D reality processor, as recently announced bloomberg.
According to this environment, Reality Processor may refer to a processor specialized in high-definition VR and AR graphics dedicated to this product, which is expected to use a self-developed M2 chip with 16GB of internal memory.
The technology company did not comply with the requests, but used one of the usual strategies in this type of action. To do this, in cooperation with lawyers, they blocked the names of these patents and thereby secured their commercial rights instead of subsequently buying them from another owner.
This media outlet indicated that these patents were filed in various countries such as the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Costa Rica, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay, as well as throughout the European Union.
Currently, these registration applications are not yet approved, so there is no guarantee that future products Mansana issued under this name.
It’s not the first time
It is worth remembering that Mansana registered a few months ago a new operating system called realityOS in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
In some of the screenshots shared by consumer products consultant Parker Ortolani, one could see how the brand would cover various categories such as laptop hardware, software, or peripherals.
However, this wasn’t the first time the Reality name had been known, as the patent was filed in late 2021, just two months before the operating system started showing up in the brand’s source code.
Similarly, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo announced that the second generation of his smart glasses will consist of several models, including cheaper ones. They will initially launch in the first half of 2025. (Europa Press)
