The National Aeronautics and Space Administration canceled the launch of the Artemis 1 lunar rocket due to engine cooling problems.
NASA canceled the launch of the Space Launch System launch vehicle with the Orion capsule due to engine cooling problems. Space.com reported it.
The team is said to have nearly powered up the first Space Launch System (SLS) megarocket to launch the Artemis 1 lunar mission on Monday, August 29, when controllers were unable to cool one of the four main engines to the temperature needed to handle the propellant. .
After multiple failed troubleshooting attempts, the team ran out of time to launch before the two-hour window expired.
Since NASA can’t launch today, the agency could try at least two back-up days to launch Artemis 1 on its mission to the moon. If the team resolves the problem with engine number 3, it can try to restart it on Friday, September 2 or September 5, weather permitting.
If NASA can’t launch by September 5, mission leaders say the next attempt will be made in October.
It was previously reported that NASA has released some images in preparation for the launch of the Artemis 1 mission to the moon.
