The construction of the mounds began about 11,000 years ago and was completed over several millennia.

Scientists have discovered that two six-meter mounds on the campus of Louisiana State University are the oldest intact structures in North America. IFLS writes about it.

Analysis of sediment cores taken from these mounds showed that they were built in layers, the oldest of which contained ashes from burnt reeds and reed plants. There, researchers found microscopic fragments of charred mammalian bones called osteons.

“The layers of reed phytoliths, which contain a small amount of osteons, indicate a very hot fire. It is difficult to cook food at such a temperature, so we probably believe that they served a ritual role, for example, for different ceremonies or cremations,” experts added.

“Mound A and Mound B, were collected by ancient indigenous cultures. According to the researchers, the structures were aligned to a point on the horizon. Six millennia ago, the red giant star Arcturus, one of the brightest star in the sky, is The people who built the mounds about 6,000 years ago wanted to place these structures on a level with Arcturus, which at that time was visible in the night sky,” explained the scientist Brooks Ellwood of Louisiana State University.

It will be remembered that in Malaysia in 2017 a “Penang woman” was found, who died at the age of about 40 years at the end of the Stone Age.
