Scientists studied the particles of the asteroid Ryugu

Asteroid Ryugu is composed of material that matches the abundance of elements in the solar system.

The composition of microparticles delivered to Earth by the Hayabusa2 spacecraft, taken on the surface of the near-Earth asteroid Ryugu, is one of the most pollution-free materials in the solar system. This is reported by Nature Astronomy.

It is noted that fragments of asteroids fall to Earth in the form of meteorites, their composition upon entering the atmosphere changes upon contact with it. Thus, most of the information about their original composition has been lost. At the same time, asteroids hold evidence of how and when our solar system formed.

Between June 2018 and November 2019, the Hayabusa2 spacecraft of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) conducted an extensive remote sensing study of asteroid Ryugu.

The first contact on February 21, 2019 collected material at the surface, and the second on July 11, 2019 collected material near an artificial crater formed by a small portable impactor. These samples are kept in the room. In December 2020, a probe sent to Ryugu delivered an unsaleable shipment, its samples stored in sterile containers. The JAXA Hayabusa2 mission provided the opportunity to study core samples and get closer to the history of the formation of the early solar system, as well as the origin of water and the evolution of organic matter, which may have been the first building blocks of building for life on Earth.

It was previously reported that the cloud of dark plasma, which escaped from the Sun over the weekend, will reach Earth on Wednesday, August 17.
