Britain approves vaccine against two strains of coronavirus

Moderna received the green light from the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency after it was found to meet safety and quality standards.

The UK has become the first country to approve a COVID-19 vaccine targeting the original strain and the Omicron variant. Sky News reported this.

The Moderna vaccine received the green light from the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) after it was found to meet the UK regulator’s safety, quality and effectiveness standards.

The booster dose, known as Spikevax bivalent Original/Omicron, contains 25 micrograms of the Omicron vaccine and 25 micrograms of the original coronavirus vaccine. It acts on two infections and is known as bivalent.

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunization will advise on vaccination.

The vaccine has also been submitted for regulatory approval in Australia, Canada and the EU. The EU is expected to approve the vaccine in September.

To recall, the European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, Stella Kyriakides, warned that another wave of COVID-19 awaits EU member states in the winter, and called for the vaccination of vulnerable populations that accelerate. And the government of Ukraine may restore the mandatory mask mode if the epidemic situation worsens in the country.
