From several images, scientists put together a video of the comet approaching the Sun and plunging into our star.
NASA’s SOHO spacecraft recorded the comet’s fatal plunge into the sun with its instruments. This is reported by Futurism.
Experts believe that the comet, which is essentially a piece of ice, melted in the Sun’s atmosphere.
Astronomer Tony Phillips says the celestial body is a member of the Kreutz family of near-solar comets. It fell several hundred years ago.
“Most of these comets are very small, perhaps less than a few meters in diameter, and were not even detected by the SOHO spacecraft during their impact with the Sun, but this comet caught our attention with its large size ,” Phillips added.
THE COMET DOES NOT RECOVER: Like most comets that dive into the sun, this one did not exit the other side of the Sun after its closest approach to the Sun (perihelion). 🙁 pic.twitter.com/ok5fHbfdDv

Remember, NASA previously said that on Friday, August 12, a potentially dangerous large asteroid will approach Earth, flying at a speed that exceeds the speed of sound by 27 times.
