The excavated house is located in a part of the city, where mainly representatives of the lower and middle classes live.
In Pompeii, archaeologists have excavated a house consisting of several rooms. It is assumed that it belongs to the poor residents of the city. It was reported by the Pompeii Archaeological Park.
In particular, the excavations made it possible to open four rooms where things remained in chests and cabinets, which quickly left during the eruption of Vesuvius in 79, were preserved.
So, one of the studied rooms is a bedroom, where the remains of a bed frame have been preserved, as well as a pillow, where the fabric texture is still visible. Next to it is a wooden chest, on which beams and planks from the ceiling have collapsed. Inside the chest, archaeologists found a ceramic plate made of red colorless clay and an oil lamp depicting the transformation of Zeus into an eagle.
Also in this room is a small round table with three legs, on which there are household items such as a cup and a plate.
The second room is a pantry. This is the only room where there are no plastered walls. In it, the researchers found a shelf with an amphora and a bunch of wooden boards, which, apparently, were intended for various purposes from making furniture to redecorating places.
In a small corridor, archaeologists also found the remains of a two-meter wooden cabinet, damaged by the collapse of the ceiling.
During the exploration of the upper rooms, archaeologists also discovered a large cupboard containing other well-preserved ceramic vessels for everyday kitchen use.
