Microsoft has announced new options for users in the USA and Europe, which will give you to expand Windows 10 life for free just a few days before the transition to Windows 11, reports Techxplore.
Windows 10 support was officially completed on October 14, which led to criticism from consumer protection organizations and reminding users who are afraid that new computers will need to buy security. Without updates, their devices remain vulnerable to cyber attacks.
To reduce risks, the company said: European users will receive another year of safety updates for free if they enter the system using Microsoft Accounting. In the United States, a similar option provides for loading a Windows 10 profile to Microsoft’s cloud service, after which updates are also available within a year.
Prior to that, the company offered an annual extension for $ 30 for those whose computers were not compatible with Windows 11. Now in the USA you can choose: either a free choice with a reserve copy of the profile, or a paid subscription for $ 30, or use 1000 Microsoft Revards, accumulated due to activity in company services.
In Europe, Microsoft concessions motivated public initiatives. The French Hop organization requested free updates until at least 2030, and the German Consumer Federation Verbraucerzentrale in May warned that the corporate decision was “limiting freedom of choice and causing users’ concerns.”
