In Barbados, researchers have discovered a filamentous snake – the smallest in the world. This species has been considered to be lost for more than 20 years.

On the island of Barbados, scientists again found a barbarian nithetic snake (tetracheilosstoma Carlae) – the smallest snake in the world, which, as it is believed, lost 20 years ago. The Associated Press reported it.

The unexpected opening was made during the spring expedition of 2025, Connor Blade, the head of the project in the Barbados Ministry of Environmental environment. Rocking the stone in the forest, he noticed a small snake, similar to worms, and brought it to the laboratory.

In a microscope, the scientist saw the signs of this type: pale yellow line behind his rear, the eyes located on the side of the head, and a special nasal scales. It has been proof that the finished reptile is really alive and still living in the wild.

Wild officially announced the form “Re -open.”

The barbados filamentous snake is blind, not -nuclear and up to 10 cm long. It digs holes in the ground, feeds the termite and ants, which just lays an egg.

However, scientists are concerned: the reduction of forests in barbados can put these rare species at risk of disappearing.

The snake was first identified in 2008 by museum patterns. The professor of the University of Temple S. Bler hedges discovered this and named his wife’s honor – Carlae.

Earlier it was reported that scientists from the University of East Tennessee have made a unique discovery, giving you a look to look at a fresh view of the evolution of amphibians.
