Just two weeks of reading are enough to increase the level of knowledge about current events, media confidence and the best ability to recognize fake news.
A new study shows that regular reading on platforms such as Instagram and WhatsApp can significantly improve user awareness and their ability to distinguish reality from fakes. The Sciencex reported it.
The study was attended by 3395 people from France and Germany. Participants were randomly distributed in two groups: some were subscribing to news accounts, others -to non -explosives. Within two weeks, participants in the first group read the news, received notices and sent screenshots to confirm the participation in the experiment.
The results have shown that even in a short time for reading the news has led to an increase in the level of knowledge about current events, confidence in the media and the best ability to recognize fake news. At the same time, a sense of consciousness or political interest has not changed.
Although social networks are often criticized for spreading misinformation and stunning content, it is more likely to learn more about the news. The average user spends more than 2 hours on social networks day -day – it’s about 14% of waking up.
Researchers encourage to not only limit harmful content, but also to encourage users to subscriptions to reliable sources of information. In the future, those who are set believe, worth focusing on ways to moty users who actively interact with high justification and realistic news content.
