Politician from Philippines wants to convert to act ‘ghost’ in a criminal offense in the country.
Arnolfo Tevez Jr. notes that such behavior can be interpreted as a “form of emotional cruelty” and as such should be punished.
Ghost as a crime
‘ghost’ may be due to disconnected communication social networks with another person abruptly and without explanation, causing doubts, questions and even anxiety among the victims.
With this in mind, the legislator points to studies showing that social rejection activates the same neural pathways as physical pain.
Tevez Jr. mentions that “ghost”is a form of anger that develops feelings of rejection and abandonment” and stated that emotional losses can affect performance.
The bill does not propose specific penalties, but Tevez suggested in an interview that community service would be appropriate.
In what cases can it be applied?
If this law is adopted, a number of issues must be resolved.
For example, in what ways ghost? The legislation mentions that such cases occur when a person “enters into a dating relationship.” The document goes on to define a dating relationship as a relationship in which the parties live together without being married, or are “in a romantic relationship for a long time and constantly.”
Tevez has stated that neither casual dating nor “routine interaction” is a dating relationship.
