Since the beginning of AI, the style of writing texts in scientific articles has changed dramatically.
In the world of scientific publications, the influence of artificial intelligence is growing rapidly, the Sciencex reports. The new study of American and German scientists showed that in 2024 only at least 13.5% of biomedicine articles on the pubmed platform had signs of editing or spelling using AI.
The researchers’ team applied the “over -use” examination method, allowing them to recognize the trends in stylistic changes, without relying on the AI -class -classified texts.
Researchers reviewed more than 15 million scientific annotations and discovered a pronounced transfer to the language style of the newspapers after the launch of the ChatGPT. In particular, the frequency of use of decorated words and revolutions – such as “display”, “pivotal”, “grappling”, which is less common in texts before the AI period, increased. If the nouns previously prevailed (up to 79%of all excess words), then in 2024 they were replaced by verbs (66%) and adjectives (14%).
Those who set it also noted that the level of AI use is different depending on the country, industry and scientific journals.
The work has been published in the Journal Science Advances.
