High images make it possible to study three unusual radio galaxis, which receive conditions of condition – goldfish (golden fish), beaver (BOBR) and embryo (embryo). They are distinguished by ugly forms and long tails – over 200 thousand light years – which may have emerged due to interacting with the intergalactic environment.
“Our main goal is to use data to identify possible filaments in the tails of radio galaxies to study their morphological and origin properties,” explained astrophysicist Emanuel de Rubis from Bologna University.
In particular interest are filamentary formations, the length of which reached 260–360 thousand light years – three times this is the width of the Milky Way. At the same time, their thickness is less than a tenth of our expanse.
Scientists suggest that these structures are formed as a result of chaotic interaction of galaxies, causing the acceleration of particles and the creation of magnetic fields. In the future, these “threads” are scattered in hot intergalactic gas.
