Asteroid 2003 AY2, the size of a skyscraper, will approach the planet this Sunday, June 22.
On Sunday, June 22, an asteroid 2003 AY2, considered to be potentially dangerous, would fly near the ground. This was reported by NASA (JPL) Reactive Laboratory.
According to NASA, the length of the heavenly object is 393.1 meters. The distance from the asteroid to the ground is about 5.43 million km.
If the asteroid approaches the ground by a distance of less than 7.5 million km and its size exceeds 150 m, consider NASA a “potentially dangerous thing”.
Asteroid 2003 has fallen under this same standard, but scientists are soothing: at present there is no direct threat of a collision on the ground.
Remember that the Asteroid 2024 YR4, previously considered a potential world threat, no longer carries a major risk of a collision.
