During the trial launch, the rocket reached about 300 meters high and made an accurate landing with a deviation of just 37 cm.
The Honda vehicle’s manufacturer’s research unit announced the successful launch of the test and implantation of an experimental available missile. The test was the first case when the Honda -developed rocket reached a height of nearly 300 meters and conducted an accurate vertical landing.
A missile is 6.3 meters long and 85 cm with a mass of 900 kg in a dry state and 1312 kg with fuel. During the test, the device rose 271.4 meters, spent 56.6 seconds in the air and reached only 37 centimeters from a given point. The main purpose of the test is to confirm the flying stability during the acquisition and descent, as well as the accuracy of the landing – the main parameters for creating an available rocket.
Rocket development is part of the Long -Term Honda approach for the development of space technologies. Back in 2021, the company announced plans for research in the field of space to implement ambitious ideas by using their own engineering development. In particular, we are talking about circulating energy -moving systems, robots for working in the outdoor space, as well as creating available carriers for launching satellites.
The initiative to create a rocket emerged from the dream of Honda’s young engineers who sought to use the technology established by the company – from internal combustion engines to automatic control systems. Developers believe that their own missiles will allow Honda to not only show satellites, but also include these technologies in other business areas, including data transfer services.
Although the project is currently in the phase of basic research and the decision of commercialization has not yet been done, Honda has announced the intent to achieve the ability to perform suborbital launch by 2029.
We remind, earlier, it was reported that Honda would launch its hydrogen technologies in space.
