The company was the first to get to a commercial readiness for making such panels. The company hopes that, thanks to this, a breakthrough can strengthen its leadership in the next -generation display market.
The LG display announced the successful verification of the commercial performance level of OLED panels with blue phosphorus. This made it possible eight months after the start of cooperation with the Universal Display Corporation, aimed at developing blue phosphorus.
In the field of appearances, the word “OLED Dreams” indicates panels where all three main colors of light, red, green and blue are implemented using phosphorusscence. Compared to fluorescence, phosphorescence is more difficult to implement, but provides a 100%light efficiency, giving you to reduce energy consumption by four times.
The greatest technological barrier is to achieve blue phosphorus due to short lengths and high energy requirements. The LG display is managed to solve it thanks to the hybrid structure of the tandem OLED with two layers: the lower works on the basis of illumination, and the upper to the phosphorus. This method makes it possible to reduce energy consumption by about 15%, while maintaining stability similar to the existing OLED panels.
The LG display is the first company that has reached a commercial readiness for the manufacture of such panels, confirming their optical features, technology reliability and mass labor compatibility.
A public display of new panels will be held on May 11 on the Sid Display Week 2025 exhibition in San Jose.
The company hopes that thanks to this breakthrough it will boost its leadership to the next generation of appearances.
Keep in mind that it was previously reported that the LG started making an OLED game panel with a 5K2K resolution.
