At the National Park Vodteron -lax, scientists opened a new type of butterfly – Satyrium Curiosolus.
In the Canada Mountains, researchers have discovered a new type of butterfly, which can remain isolated from others for the past 40 thousand years. This was reported in a study published in the journal Zookeys, reports The Washington Post.
The new species is called Satyrium Curiosolus, which can be translated as “interestingly isolated butterfly.” In the past, he was often confused by another type of -Satyrium Semiluna, or a Crescent boat. Both butterflies are small and have wings with gray.
S. Curiosolus was found at the National Park Voterton-Lax in the province of Albert, next to the expanded river. Genetic analysis confirms that this species is found only in this area and is very rare.
According to scientists, S. Curiosolus has been separating nearly 40 thousand years. They suggest giving him an official environmental status, similar to what has a near -relative -child -child. Semiluna.
Currently, it is unknown if a newly open look may cross the other butterflies of the genus Satyrium. Scientists emphasize that attempts through such a crossing can be included in the population. Therefore, researchers call for further monitoring and study of species to find ways to ensure its safety.
Earlier it was reported that in the Odessa region the largest butterfly lived in the European fauna, with the wings reach 15 cm.
