Astronauts, who went on a 10-day mission for the ISS, waiting at the station for almost nine months due to the poor function of the ship, successfully returned to Earth.
Two NASA astronauts, which, due to the ship’s technical mistake, were forced to spend nearly nine months at the International Space Station instead of the planned ten days, finally returning to Earth, Reuters reported.
Crew Dragon Spacecraft with Sunit Williams and Barry Wilmor landed on the Gulf of Mexico, about 80 kilometers from the shores of Florida. This happened at 11:57 hours of Kyiv.
The crew entered the environment at a speed of more than 27 thousand km/h, gradually slowing down to 27 km/h. There are also two more astronauts in the capsule, which are planned to be replaced by the ISS.
“It’s a journey. I see a capsule full of smiles from ear to ear,” said Nick Hage, crew commander Dragon Mission.
A long stay in the space affects the human body, causing muscle atrophy and visual impairment. Therefore, before returning to their families, astronauts undergo a medical review at the Johnson Space Center.
“They will receive a great timely vacation and time with their families. For them it has been a long time in space,” said Steve Stitch Commercial Crews of the commercial crews.
Remember that Williams and Wilmore went to the ISS in June 2024 for a ten -day mission. However, due to the malfunction of the ship, their return has been with almost nine months.
Earlier it was reported that Hurricane Milton forced NASA to postpone the return of the Spacex Crew Dragon personnel from the International Space Station.
