During the company’s first Tokyo launch attempt in March, the rocket reportedly exploded shortly after liftoff and was ordered to self-destruct. Then failure occurred due to incorrect calculation of the rocket’s power plant.
The company hopes to become the first private company in the country to launch satellites into orbit. Space One also plans to launch 30 launch vehicles into space annually through the 2030s.
The startup was created in 2018 by Canon Electronics Inc., IHI Aerospace Co. and other organizations that aim to commercialize space delivery services by reducing costs and offering regular rocket launches.
