On Wednesday, December 4, two asteroids, each more than 300 meters long, will approach Earth at a safe distance.
NASA reports that on December 4, two large asteroids classified as “potentially hazardous” will fly close to Earth.
The first of them, asteroid 447755 (2007JX2), has a length of more than 400 meters and will pass at a distance of about 5.5 million kilometers from our planet.
The second asteroid, 2020XR, is slightly smaller – about 388 meters long – and will pass at a distance of 2.2 million kilometers from Earth.
According to scientists, objects of this size approaching 7.5 million kilometers from our planet are classified as “potentially dangerous.” However, experts assured: both asteroids are under constant surveillance, and there is no danger of colliding with Earth yet.
Such observations allow us to better understand the movement and behavior of cosmic bodies, ensuring the safety of our planet.
It was previously reported that scientists are looking for solutions to feed astronauts during long space missions.
