Bill Gates he is one of the richest people in the world, and his success is not accidental: it is due to the fact that he has been persistently innovating in the technological world over the years.
So his experience has allowed him to know what is best for each type of person, and at a recent event he spoke about those he considers “smarter”, encouraging them to take positions according to their ability.
Work for the smartest, according to Bill Gates
During TC sessions: Climate 2022, Bill Gates He asked such people to leave economic issues to those involved in the climate.
“The main thing was to take the smart ones and say, ‘Hey, don’t make derivatives just on Wall Street,'” Gates said. “This idea will send a signal to other young people starting their science and engineering careers that we need them to get involved in these climate-related issues.”
The success of Breakthrough Energy, his climate-focused fund, depends, in the words of the Microsoft founder, on young people with strong ideas, high IQs, who “are not willing to work only on things that maximize their income.”
Gates noted that Wall Street’s high salaries are attracting many potential young employees. But, he says, these positions are “a little less honorary than before.”
Does this contradict itself?
Relatively Bill Gates, his focus on IQ is remarkable given that he has previously spoken of reducing his reliance on a bookish mind when evaluating employees. During a 2018 panel discussion at Hunter College, he said the only thing he wished he knew when he was younger was how useful different skill sets, from emotional intelligence to relational intelligence, could be.
“I thought that if someone has a high IQ, they can be good at everything,” Gates said. “And the idea that you have to combine these different types of abilities has always amazed me.”
