Doctors recommend that people with chronic illnesses be especially attentive to their health during this period, as magnetic storms can affect their well-being.
A powerful three-day magnetic storm hit the Earth, which began on July 1 and will last until July 3. The Space Weather Prediction Center of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported this.
Geomagnetic storms are classified according to the level of power – K-index – from 2 to 9. The higher the K-index, the stronger the storm, its consequences, as well as the impact on people and equipment .
On Monday, July 1, a K-index of 5 (red level) is expected. On Tuesday, July 2, the storm will reduce its strength to K-index 4 (yellow level) and remain on Wednesday, July 3.
Magnetic storms are caused by coronal mass ejections from the Sun interacting with Earth’s magnetic field. During such emissions, disruptions in radio and satellite communications, operational failures of energy systems, and disease can occur.
