The Internet has had its own World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) since 1994. Metaverse has its Metaverse Standards Forum starting this week. Major tech groups have announced the birth of this association, which aims to help create common technical standards for this announced evolution of the Internet. “In order for Metavers to be successful, it must be built on open standards, just like the two-dimensional network we know.”said Nvidia Vice President Archimandrite Lebaredyan in a press release.
The American company is one of the twenty founding members of the Metaverse Standards Forum: Microsoft, Meta, Epic Games, Unity, Huawei, Alibaba, Adobe, HTC, Autodesk, Sony or Qualcomm, as well as W3C Associations, Web 3D Consortium, Spatial Web Foundation or Open AR Cloud.
