Since the beginning of the year, deminers have examined more than 146 thousand hectares of agricultural land, returning more than 137.8 thousand hectares to economic use.
This year in Ukraine, the inspection and clearance of agricultural land has accelerated compared to 2023. Deputy Minister of Economy Igor Bezkaravayny spoke about this, the Government Portal reports.
According to him, in May, units of governmental and non-governmental mine action operators inspected approximately 31 thousand hectares of agricultural land.
In total, since the beginning of the year, deminers have observed more than 146 thousand hectares of agricultural land, returning more than 137.8 thousand hectares to economic use.
Bezkaravayny noted that in May, in the Kherson region, it was possible to survey and return to use the land whose area is twice the area of the city itself.
In total, 29.8 thousand hectares of agricultural land were restored for use by farmers in May. Among them, in particular, in the Kherson region – 26.9 thousand hectares.
It was previously reported that a state register of territories contaminated or potentially contaminated with explosive substances will be created in Ukraine.
