AI analysis blocks will be placed at the top of the screen and will instantly give the user an answer to their query. Starting today, this feature is available in the US and will be available in most countries by the end of the year.
Google said it was adding artificial intelligence to its search and announced big changes. The company announced this during the Google I/0 2024 conference, Mezha reports.
It has been noted that in the United States, Google has started showing AI-generated answers to most search queries. These blocks appear at the top of the screen and try to immediately give the user an answer to their query. This feature will be available in most countries by the end of the year.

“With generative AI, we’re seeing Google do most of the searching for you. Search can do a lot of the heavy lifting so you can focus on what you want to do to get the job done,” said of newly appointed executive at The Verge Google Search Department Liz Reed.
The new search engine is based on the Gemini model, an artificial intelligence developed specifically for Google search. Gemini combines features such as multi-step reasoning, planning, and multimodal capabilities.
However, Google plans that not all search queries will require an answer from artificial intelligence. “If you just want to go to a URL, you’re looking for Walmart and you want to go to walmart.com. Adding artificial intelligence isn’t going to improve the result,” Reed explained. However, Gemini’s strength is handling complex queries, such as finding the “best local yoga studio” based on specific criteria.
By the end of the year, Google plans to make the new search available to more than a billion people.
In addition to AI tests, Google search will feature planning capabilities, from meal plans to vacation plans. Users can create customized plans, such as a three-day meal plan, and make changes to it by changing meals. For convenience, these plans can be exported to Google Docs or Gmail.
Google will also expand its visual search capabilities. Users can ask questions via video to help describe and solve problems. This feature will soon be available to Search Labs English users in the US, with plans to roll it out globally.
It was earlier reported that Google will include three new AI features in Chrome – Tab Organizer, Help Me Write and Theme Store.
