The International Organization for Migration does not expect an influx of refugees from Ukraine, as at the beginning of a full-scale war.
The director of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Amy Pope, said that the flow of refugees from Ukraine at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia was unexpected. Ukrinform reported this.
“I don’t expect that we will see an outflow (of people from Ukraine, – ed.) at the same rate as at the beginning of the war. The flow from Ukraine is distinguished by the number of people who quickly left the country. This is unprecedented. I don’t think we’ll see a repeat of this. There was absolutely no disaster today,” Pope said.
According to him, the IOM will continue monitoring, but, according to estimates, Ukrainians want to stay in their country.
“But we have to be realistic. People, if they don’t have a safe place, if they are under constant attack, they tend to move,” Pope added.
We remind you that in the countries of the European Union the number of Ukrainians enjoying temporary protection is decreasing.
It was also reported that Switzerland’s population in 2023 will grow at the fastest rate in the last 60 years, thanks to record immigration, including thousands of people from Ukraine.
