The operation of osseointegration prosthetics, unique for domestic medicine, was performed on the basis of the Vinnitsa Regional Clinical Hospital named after Pirogov. This was reported by the hospital’s press service.
“Osseointegration prosthetics involves planting an intraosseous implant in the bone of the patient’s amputated leg, to the outer part where the parts of the prosthesis are subsequently fixed,” explains the hospital.
It is reported that this procedure is innovative for Ukraine and aims to increase the patient’s mobility and speed up rehabilitation after amputation.
“An important advantage of osseointegration is that it restores sensitivity to the patient; he can feel and recognize forward surfaces. It is now very important for our state to perform such surgical interventions; there are only a few such operations that carried out. ,” the message said.
